Palau and United States delegations met for the mid-Joint Committee Meeting (mid-JCM) to tackle bilateral defense exercises and other activities from May 6 to 9 at the Joint Region Marianas Headquarters in Guam.

Vice President and Minister of Justice (MOJ) Raynold B. Oilouch headed the Palauan delegation composed of 14 officials while US Ambassador to Palau Amy Hyatt led the US delegations.

An information furnished by the MOJ to the media revealed that Oilouch brought up to the US delegations some concerns of Palauan citizens who will be affected by the US REAL ID regulations and the concerns over difficulty to enter the US by some Palauans with expunged criminal records, among others.

Aside from that, the delegations also discussed the overall security plan and training exercises for the Our Ocean Conference 2020 to be hosted by Palau.

“Working groups comprised of both Palau and US representatives will continue to collaborate on all lines of effort and will present accomplishments at the Annual JCM in October,” the press statement furnished by the MOJ to the media read.
