The Palau Visitors Authority (PVA) participated in the Taipei Tourism Expo (TTE) 2024, held from May 31 to June 3, to solidify its position in the Taiwanese market, a key source of visitors for Palau.

Recognizing the importance of Taiwanese travelers, the PVA aimed to build stronger connections and encourage continued visitor growth. The expo provided a platform to showcase Palau’s unique attractions and establish it as a premier destination for Taiwanese tourists.

The PVA booth featured representatives, including Mr. Alex Lei from the Taipei office, alongside tour operators and Palauan interns – Ms. R-Jane Idub Skebong, Ms. Celeen Buikdil Beltau, and Ms. Taunoa Kitiona from Tuvalu – who all played a vital role in promoting Palau’s distinct offerings.

Highlighting increased accessibility with more frequent flights, the Palau team, in collaboration with tour operators, engaged with attendees throughout the four-day event.

Additionally, the PVA office presented a detailed overview of Palau, including activities and travel tips, at the China Airlines booth. Mr. Bob Yang, representing the PVA office, attracted a large audience with his presentation.

Furthermore, the PVA leveraged the influence of Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs) – renowned travel influencers – who shared their personal Palau experiences throughout the past year.

The PVA delegation, led by Managing Director Kadoi Ruluked, included Marketing & Programs Manager Ms. Chloe Ysikl Yano and Marketing Representative Ms. Janine Tewid. They participated in a community-based tour in Yilan County to explore the development of indigenous tourism and local creative industries.

“Taiwan’s support for its indigenous tribes is truly impressive,” remarked Ruluked. “They utilize tourism to revitalize and preserve their culture and identity through experiences and traditional crafts. We are committed to collaborating with Palauan state governments and local communities to enhance our offerings and attract high-value visitors seeking unique experiences and products.”

The PVA expressed its gratitude to its partners in the tourism industry, participating students, and the Taiwan Council of Indigenous Peoples for their significant contributions to the success of the trip. The PVA looks forward to building on these partnerships in the future.
