Palau won the 29th Independence Day Baseball Classic against the visiting Guam Dodgers team with a score of 3-2 in the final game on Friday, September 29, 2023.
Palau won the first two games of the tournament on Wednesday and Thursday with scores of 3-1 and 7-0, respectively. The third and final game was a close game, with the Guam Dodgers putting up 2 runs in the last inning, but it was not enough to overcome Palau’s 3-run lead.
This is the second consecutive year that Palau has won the Independence Day Baseball Classic. The tournament is held annually as part of Palau’s Independence Day celebrations.
Palau Major League and Palau Baseball Federation have been inviting baseball teams from overseas to play goodwill tournaments with Palau teams. Palauan baseball players hone their skills through these tournaments as well as access opportunities to play regionally and internationally.
