Youth from three high schools in Palau will commemorate International Anti-Corruption Day on Friday, December 9, 2022, with various activities and presentations in honor of the UN Convention Against Corruption.
About 150 high school students from Mindzenty High School, Palau High School and Palau Mission Academy will be doing oral presentations, skits, songs, and videos they created to highlight the even.
“Palau Community College is also involved with 44 students designing their own banners, t-shirts, and a logo for the event. The students designed their own t-shirts, banners, songs, skits, stickers, posters, videos, and oral presentations,” said SP Dawn April Cripps.”
The event will start with a parade to the Ngara-amayong Cultural Center, where the official program will begin, followed by student presentations. Afterward, there will be commentators’ feedback from the four resident ambassadors in Palau from the Australian Embassy, Japan Embassy, Republic of China-Taiwan Embassy, and US Embassy.
The volleyball exhibition games occur on the same day’s afternoon, officiated by the Palau Olympic Committee.
This year’s International Anti-Corruption Day theme is UNCAC at 20: Uniting the World Against Corruption”.
“The 2022 International Anti-Corruption Day (IACD) seeks to highlight the crucial link between anti-corruption and peace, security, and development. At its core is the notion that tackling this crime is the right and responsibility of everyone, and that only through cooperation and the involvement of each and every person and institution can we overcome the negative impact of this crime,” UN Convention Against Corruption (UNCAC). “ States, government officials, civil servants, law enforcement officers, media representatives, the private sector, civil society, academia, the public and youth alike all have a role to play in this.”
