A Palauan woman who hails from Ngatpang State will continue to serve as a General Member of the Guam Memorial Hospital Authority (GMHA) Board of Trustees under the new Guam administration.
Sonia L. Siliang was first appointed as GMHA Board of Trustees General Member during the administration of then Guam Governor Eddie J. Baza Calvo in September 2017, hence becoming the first Palauan to serve in the Board.
Siliang, the daughter of Robertha Ngiraked of Ngatpang State, was appointed to serve until April 14, 2020.
The Office of the Governor issued a memorandum dated December 10, 2018 requesting for the current members of Boards, Commissions, an Advisory Councils to continue their service and remain in their current capacities.
The memorandum, which was signed by Transition Committee Chair May A.Y. Okada and Co-chair Laura M. Torres Souder, stated that retaining the current members of the offices will “ensure continuity and also allow the incoming Leon Guerrero-Tenorio’s Transition Committee to complete its work of assessing the status” of all Guam government agencies and entities under the executive branch.
Aside from being the General Member of the Board of Trustees of the GMHA, Siliang is also a chairperson of Governance, By-Laws and Strategic Planning.
Her first project under the board was to develop a five-year strategic plan which she completed and presented to the board on December 27, 2018. (Rhealyn C. Pojas)
