The event, held at the Abai in Guam under clear skies, brought together Palauan residents, government officials, and community leaders from both Guam and Palau. Among those in attendance were Guam Governor Lou Leon Guerrero, Koror Governor Eyos Rudimch, and Palau Vice President Raynold Arnold Oilouch.

Palauan community associations representing Melekeok, Aimeliik, Ngardmau, Ngiwal, Ngaraard, Koror, Ngchesar, and Ngatpang showcased their traditions with displays of food and cultural presentations. Traditional Palauan dishes such as fish, demok, pig, red rice, and deer soup were served alongside Chamoru cuisine, symbolizing the enduring friendship between Guam and Palau.

In their remarks, leaders from both governments emphasized the importance of unity and shared heritage across the Pacific. The celebration, many attendees said, reflected the deep connection between Palauans at home and abroad.

For some, including younger Palauans attending for the first time, the event was an opportunity to reconnect with classmates, friends, and family while celebrating their shared identity.

The gathering concluded with a spirited chant of “Biba Palau!” followed by Governor Leon Guerrero’s closing word, “Mesulang”—meaning “thank you” in Palauan—a gesture warmly received by the crowd.

The celebration served as a reminder of the strong cultural ties and mutual respect that continue to link the people of Guam and Palau, even across the ocean that separates them.
