– “Olechotel a Bilis era Belau”

The Palau Animal Welfare Society (PAWS) is hosting an “Olechotel a Bilis era Belau” (Palauan Dog Show) to celebrate our 25th Anniversary. The event will take place on Sunday, November 9th, at the Mindszenty High School Gymnasium from 2PM – 5PM.

The show is for regular dogs from our neighborhoods in Palau. Dogs that compete in the various events don’t have to be purebreds or fancy dogs. In fact, most of the dogs who win prizes are picked because of some unique characteristic like a funny tail or a good costume.

The purpose of the show is to be a fun yet educational event to promote PAWS’ mission. The show will focus on the importance of veterinary care and controlling the overpopulation of dogs in Palau. PAWS staff and volunteers will offer information about clinic hours and the services they provide.

This year there will be two categories, and a total of 7 events.

CATEGORY ONE will be for dog owners that are 8-17 years old. Events:

  • Most interesting tail
  • Most interesting ears
  • Best smile
  • Happiest dog

CATEGORY TWO will be for dog owners of all ages. Events:

  • Dog & owner costume contest
  • Dog & owner obstacle race
  • Best trick

All dogs competing in the show must wear a dog collar and be kept on a leash at all times. Aggressive dogs may not participate. Your dog must be at least 6 months old to enter, and you have to bring your own water bowl. You can enter only one dog per person.

Every participant in the show will get a free T-shirt, and the top three winners of every category will win great prizes. First-place winners will get the chance to compete for BEST IN SHOW!

Participation in the event is free, but pre-registration is required. Please visit the Palau Animal Welfare Society Instagram or Facebook page to pre-register. Space is limited!

The Dog Show is a lot of fun, and it’s a great way to spend some time with your kids on a Sunday afternoon. Kids love the show.

Everyone is encouraged to come watch the show, have fun, have a few laughs, and learn how we can all help promote public and environmental health by taking care of the animals that live around us.
