This year, the Palau National Communications Corporation (PNCC) launched a new scholarship program designed to assist second-year Palau Community College (PCC) students to complete their degrees and gain valuable, applied experience in the professional field. By investing in our youth’s educational pursuits and career development, PNCC hopes to encourage diversity and innovation in the workforce, most especially in the advancement of telecommunications.
On December 9, 2021, three outstanding students from PCC were each awarded a scholarship which includes financial assistance, a paid internship, and a job placement opportunity at PNCC. The first-ever recipients of the PNCC Scholarship are McDowell Wachi, an Automotive Mechanic Technology student; Lieslie Mark Taksiau, an Information Technology student; and O’Keef Rengiil Koichi, an Information Technology student.
In his remarks at the ceremony, Dr. Patrick U. Tellei emphasized the importance of institutional and company scholarships, and thanked PCC Director of Development Mr. Tchuzie Tadao and PNCC for their combined efforts in making the scholarship possible.
PNCC Vice Chairman Bradley Kumangai commented, “PNCC is extremely proud to award this scholarship to each recipient. It is an opportunity for students to enhance their knowledge and skills within their respective majors. It is our privilege to support Palau’s youth in furthering their education as they are the next generation who will be instrumental in the betterment of PNCC and our communities.”
