The Palau International Coral Reef Center (PICRC) welcomed Palau High School (PHS) student, Ms. Maya Moros, into its facilities on Wednesday, October 23. Ms. Moros visited the Center as part of the Job Shadow Activity offered by PHS. The purpose of this program was for students to experience a typical day working at their career of interest.

Ms. Moros’s interest in Marine Biology motivated her to complete her Job Shadow assignment at PICRC. Assigned to the Communications and Outreach Office (COO), Ms. Moros received a tour of the facilities, interviewed researchers and staff, and was able to help the COO office with some of the projects they are currently working on. “I observed their jobs and it was amazing,” stated Ms. Moros, “It made me more interested to work here.”

PICRC would like to thank PHS for choosing the Center as one of the Job Shadow sites for this year. Likewise, PICRC would like to thank Ms. Moros for spending a day observing, interviewing and getting familiarized with the work being done at the Center. “Programs like these expose students to the work environment; a fundamental, and necessary step to help students find their passion,” stated PICRC CEO, Dr. Yimnang Golbuu.
