The Palau International Coral Reef Center (PICRC) is a proactive organization that depends on its 5-year strategic plan to guide its work. Every year, the Center reviews the strategic plan by looking at , last year’s accomplishments, and then develop the plan for the coming year.
[restrict] On Friday, August 19, 2016, the PICRC staff took a day to focus on the annual plan, working to set their departments’ work plan and goals for the next fiscal year. The main goal of each department was to either expand or continue their research projects, make improvements to the Center and aquarium, create better and more interactive displays and educational materials.
The work plan retreat was also a good time for the staff to get together to once again reinforce team building skills and create better bonds among coworkers. As much as all the staff have individual work to accomplish, PICRC reinforces teamwork, because the work that is done at the Center is not up to the individuals alone. Instead, it is a team of people working together to accomplish the tasks at the Center.
Thus, in between each departments’ presentation on their goals for the next fiscal year, there were fun activities and games to enhance cooperation and coordination among the staff. All in all, it was a successful day for the PICRC team. Goals are set for the next year and the staff are refreshed and are ready to commence their work towards accomplishing these set goals.
Annual Plan with the budget will now go to the Center’s Board of Directors for discussion and approval. The Board of Directors will hold their meeting early next month to discuss the Annual Work Plan. [/restrict]
