Earth’s crammed with heaven, And every common bush afire with God.
Only he who sees takes off his shoes.
The rest sit around and pluck blackberries.
– Elizabeth Barrett Browning
This morning I woke up with this thought running in my head. God was there. HE WAS THERE ALL THE TIME. Sobering thoughts that awakened my soul to see clearly God’s amazing grace.
The two giants in the old testament are: Moses and David. They were both murderers (+David’s adultery). A Deliverer and a King. Both poets and songwriters. Scandalous!
One of God’s attributes is omnipresent. He’s everywhere at all times. He’s present everywhere. He was there when baby Moses was in the basket floating on Nile River. He was there when he killed the Egyptian. And GOD was there when David took care of sheep alone in the wild. And He was there when he took Bathsheba to his private chamber. And God was there when King David wrote Uriah’s dead sentence, rolled it up and tied it with ribbon and gave it the loyal soldier to handcarry his own dead sentence to the captain.
God was there when Judah hired a prostitute. It turned out it was his daughter-in-law, Tamar, who tricked him to impregnate her. Scandalous! Judah’s progeny gave us salvation. A space to walk across to the other side on dry land in our every Red Sea moment.
The most amazing thing is GOD chose not to remember their sins, weaknesses, forgave them, and elevated them to be his giants in the history of mankind. And they sure were!
The LORD was reminding me that He had chosen to forget all my past sins, today’s sins and tomorrow’s sins through all eternity. Unbelievable! I mean, it’s too good to be true. He loves you and me so much, He chooses forget the sin of our youth and our rebellious ways (Psalms 25) just for the asking.
He’s a good God. He is merciful about our past and gracious in our future. Today is a day of salvation!
Have a good weekend ♡
