President Tommy E. Remengesau, Jr. on July 26, 2018 welcomed Power Pacific Association (PPA) Executive Director Andrew Daka and PPA representatives to Palau during a courtesy visit to the President’s Satellite Office in Meyuns, Koror.

President Remengesau expressed the Republic’s strong expectations for successful dialogue and outcomes on renewable energy as Palau continues to progress towards achieving 45% renewable energy generation and 35% energy efficiency by year 2025.

“I hope you can further discussions on renewable energy and identify ways for a multilateral approach toward achieving sustainable renewable energy in Palau and in the Pacific region”, President Remengesau said.

The Palau Public Utilities Corporation (PPUC) in collaboration with PPA is hosting the 27th Annual PPA Conference and Trade Exhibition and the 9th Engineer’s Workshop in Koror, Palau from July 30th to August 3rd.

More than 190 off-island delegates are attending the one-week long conference with an objective of furthering discussions for a greater regional cooperation and knowledge sharing. Members include energy companies and power authorities from American Samoa, Federated States of Micronesia and the Republic of the Marshall Islands among other Pacific nations. (PR)
