President Tommy Remengesau, Jr. is currently in New York to attend the 74th session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) where over 90 heads of states are expected to participate.

Remengesau left Palau on September 20 to attend the high-level an d is expected to be back after a week.

Palau’s presidential office has yet to divulge the issues or topics to be raised by the president before the UN.

In his official twitter account, Remengesau can be seen in photos with other Pacific island nation leaders including the Prime Minister of Singapore Lee Hsien Loong in New York.

In the tweet, it was revealed that the other nation leaders had joined Remengesau in celebrating Palau’s 25th Independence Day, which is commemorated in Palau every October 1, at a reception in New York.

“A good first day in NYC. Attended the Palau reception to commemorate the 25th Independence Day of Palau which is on Oct. 1. Met other Pacific Island leaders there who are also here for UNGA,” Singapore’s Prime Minister said in his tweet. (By Rhealyn C. Pojas)
