Theme: “Reconnecting the World Sustainably”
On October 25, 2022, the Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA) hosted its first Annual Summit in West Asia/Middle East in Ras al Khaimah, United Arab Emirates. The three-day conference was the first time the PATA network had gathered in person for the Annual Summit since the beginning of the pandemic.
The PATA Annual Summit (PAS) addresses diverse matters in the travel and tourism industry as global travel leaders and affiliates convene and explore comprehensive action for sustainable commitments of destinations. The theme for this year’s PAS 2022 was “Reconnecting the World Sustainability,” which addressed the global issues and the most current emerging trends in the recovery period of global crossroad destinations. The event brought together delegates from 128 organizations in 36 destinations and 52 speakers and leadership forum participants who brought valuable insights and expertise. Various topics included recovering destinations, destination marketing, aviation and hospitality trends and recovery, and the importance of reconnecting the world to inspire, catalyze actions and leave an impact.
The summit also allowed attendees to experience Ras al Khaimah’s rich history, culture, food, and hospitality. Showcasing endless views of Ras al Khaimah’s array of landscapes from the highest mountain point of the United Arab Emirates to the coastal areas and the renowned deserts.
PVA representatives who were in attendance were the Chairman of PVA, Mr. Jackson Doktok, Administrative Assistant and Board of Directors Secretary, Ms. Norma Etibek, and Marketing Representative, Ms. Janine Tewid.
The summit was very insightful, and the PVA Team plans to take these valuable experiences to create better approaches toward marketing and developing Palau as a responsible and sustainable destination.
