The Palau Visitors Authority (PVA) Board of Directors, management and staff welcome Ms. Stephanie Nakamura, who has been selected as the new Managing Director for the Palau Visitors Authority. Ms. Nakamura joined PVA on September 11th to oversee a new management structure set by the PVA Board of Directors.

Ms. Nakamura brings to PVA her three-year experience as an Instructor/Program Chair for the Palau Tourism & Hospitality School of Excellence at Palau Community College in the Republic of Palau. Ms. Nakamura graduated in June of this year from the Executive Leadership Development Program (ELDP). The ELDP is a competitive and challenging program which is designed to assist the insular governments develop and retain highly qualified staff, identify a cadre of professional staff that can be promoted into leadership positions, help ensure continuity in areas such as accounting, budget, finance, procurement, and audit as senior officials retire, build cross-departmental and cross-governmental networks and cooperation, and to create and support the governmental human resource infrastructure to lead governments to the next level of performance, and into the future.

Nakamura also had a role in the Republic of Palau Tourism Policy Framework Steering Committee. In addition to her position at Palau Community College, Ms. Nakamura remained active overseeing operations of a family business, the local newspaper company, Tia Belau. Ms. Nakamura completed her Associate of Science in Travel & Tourism at Kapio`lani Community College in 2005, a Bachelor of Science in the School of Travel Industry Management with an emphasis in Hospitality from the University of Hawaii at Manoa in 2007 and graduated with a Master’s degree in Business Administration from the University of Phoenix in San Diego, California in 2010. Ms. Nakamura also serves as a member of the Foreign Investment Board.

PVA will be moving towards social media campaigns based on digital platform and a new, improved web site,” commented Ms. Nakamura. “Our team is a combination of experienced managers and young talent.”

Shortly before Ms. Nakamura’s commencement of employment, the PVA Board of Directors approved a new organizational chart. Directly under Managing Director Nakamura is Kadoi Ruluked, Operations & Program Director. Under the Marketing & Programs Department is Susan Kloulechad, Branding & Communications Representative III, Social Media Representative Rondy Ronny and Andrea Naivana, the Sports Marketing Representative. Under State and Community Manager Katarina Mad are the State & Community Representatives Jovita Bruno and Api-Sai Wasisang. Aiyumu Takada, the Human Resources Manager, is overseeing Norma Etibek, Administrative Assistant, Corine Vickery, Customer Service Representative, and Airport Public Relations staff Lucia F. Santos and Omlei Aderkeroi. John Thanner, the Strategic Planning Manager, is supervising Strategic Analyst Sharrise Ngiraked, Statistician Lanny Ngedebuu, and IT Specialist Jaydee Pedalike. Also working directly under Ms. Nakamura are Judy Ann Sabino, Accountant/Asset Manager and Maria Paula Ngoriakl, Accountant Clerk.
