Former Palau Vice President Raynold “Arnold” Oilouch has officially declared his candidacy for the Office of the Vice President, challenging the incumbent Vice President Jeraldine Uduch Sengebau-Senior.

During a brief gathering at Cafe Marina Vita in Malakal on the evening of Tuesday, April 9, 2024, Oilouch expressed his decision to seek reelection, citing encouragement from numerous individuals.

“After deliberating with my family, we have resolved to offer ourselves for public service once more if the people of Palau so choose,” Oilouch declared to attendees.

Asserting his qualifications, Oilouch emphasized his belief in the vice president’s role as a supporter of the presidency, dedicated to advancing the nation’s welfare.

The event drew a crowd of leaders, including elected officials and traditional authorities from across Palau’s 16 states, along with relatives of Raynold Oilouch, who voiced their backing for his candidacy.

Endorsements came from both sides of Oilouch’s family, highlighting his industrious nature and modest demeanor. Former colleague and campaign manager Governor Dr. Emais Roberts also endorsed him.

Oilouch, a successful attorney, previously served as a Senator in the 8th and 9th Olbiil era Kelulau. He held the positions of Vice President and Minister of Justice from 2017 to 2020, and ran an unsuccessful presidential campaign in 2020.
