KOROR, Palau — Between 15 and 17 regional police officers from across the Pacific are expected to support Palau law enforcement during the 2025 Pacific Mini Games, Minister of Justice Jennifer Olegeriil announced.
Palau is set to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) this week with a regional policing deployment agency composed of more than 10 Pacific Island member countries. The agreement includes collaboration with the Australian Federal Police.
The partnership allows member countries to request policing support from each other during large-scale events or emergencies. Under the agreement, officers from member nations will be deployed to assist with security operations throughout the Games.
In addition to security preparations, Olegeriil urged the public to remain vigilant during school graduation season and the start of the summer break. She encouraged parents and students to celebrate safely and responsibly.
With a limited number of law enforcement officers and a major international event happening during summer break, Minister Olegeriil seeks community’s full cooperation to help ensure a safe environment.
