February 1, 2017 (Koror, Palau) Ernestine Rengiil is the new Attorney General for the Republic of Palau, a position she is very familiar with having been the attorney general from 2009 to 2012 under former President Johnson Toribiong’s administration.

In her first public interview on Wednesday, she stated that she was “looking forward to working with Vice President Oilouch and President Remengesau.”

President Remengesau recently appointed Ernestine Rengiil to the position recently vacated by former AG John Bradley.

“We are both legal professionals and have worked together well in the past and I believe we can work well together for the betterment of our nation,” stated Vice President Raynold Oilouch.

“President Remengesau is not wrong in his judgment to select Ernestine Rengiil to this office,” emphasized VP Oilouch.

According to the newly appointed AG Rengiil, there are only 4 attorneys at the AG’s Office.  One of the four works exclusively with EQPB and therefore they have only 3 attorneys handling all government cases.

“We have one Palauan who recently applied and will be on board shortly.  I believe we need more Palauans to come on board , and to work together with our contract workers in order to achieve better results for us,” added AG Rengiil. [/restrict]
