KOROR, Palau — “We want to start because we want to help,” said licensed clinical social worker Gregoria Kay Rirou, announcing the launch of GKR Consulting’s Christ-centered mental health services in Palau beginning January 2026.
After two years of working in Palau as a consultant for a specific project, GKR Consulting will officially open its doors to the public for the first time, offering in-person and online counseling designed to support the mental, emotional, and spiritual well-being of individuals, families, and organizations.
Founded and owned by Gregoria Kay Rirou, MA, LMSW, GKR Consulting combines evidence-based psychological care with Christian values to provide holistic services. Rirou is a licensed clinical social worker in the United States, listed under the National Provider Identifier (NPI) system with practice records in Rio Rancho, New Mexico. Her background includes clinical work with the Southwest Family Guidance Clinic and community involvement through programs such as youth organizations, including AMIkids Farmington.
According to Rirou, GKR Consulting’s expansion into Palau is guided by her commitment to give back to the community and help local residents manage life’s challenges with compassion and faith.
“We are invested with our time and our expertise to provide service to Palau,” she said, adding that the firm’s services are approved under Palau’s Medical Savings Account (MSA) system, allowing clients to pay for care through their health fund benefits.
Initially, GKR Consulting will focus on substance abuse, domestic violence, and depression cases—areas identified as urgent needs in Palau. “We don’t want to accept too many clients and not be able to give them full attention,” Rirou explained. “We want to accept just enough clients that we can dedicate time and attention needed to help them cope.”
Among its core services, GKR Consulting offers:
- Alcohol and Substance Abuse Counseling for recovery and spiritual renewal.
- Depression and Anxiety Management to restore peace and emotional balance.
- Domestic Violence Intervention providing safety and healing support.
- Employee Assistance Programs (EAP) for workplace stress and burnout.
- Parenting and Family Support to strengthen healthy family relationships.
- Consultation and Training for organizations and ministries on mental health awareness.
On-site counseling will be handled by Wilson Subris, a former social services counselor with Palau’s Ministry of Health, while Rirou and a Hawaii-based partner will provide telemental health services online.
With its launch, GKR Consulting aims to help clients “not just follow steps, but truly learn how to cope,” Rirou emphasized. “We want to teach people how to survive while managing their challenges and find hope again.”
