The Bureau of Public Works (BPW) is in the process of getting Airai-Koror roads rehabilitated. Rehabilitation comes in three packages with construction expected to start in month time as the tenders received are being evaluated now.
“I put out the bid announcement about three months ago and I have received two bid proposals,” said Public Works Director Brian Melairei.
However, he couldn’t reveal the names of the company as they are still in the process of being evaluated.
The first package is from Airport driveway to Airai Water Treatment Plant, the second package is Intersection at T-Dock all the way to the ice box park and package three is PVA to Palau Pacific Resort.
Melairei also added that the first package will start as quickly as possible but Koror road package is delayed as he awaits the completion of road by the contractors hired by PPUC.
“I drive on the roads so I share your sentiments. I have bids and I am ready to work but I cannot work because I am waiting,” Melairei said.
The Airport driveway to Airai Water Treatment Plant which is the first package shall be completely rehabilitated by the end of the year,
He also added that he has been pushing PPUC to get the works completed so PW can start the work of rehabilitating the roads. (Eshan Kalyanikar)
