to Increase Awareness of Public Safety Laws and Build Trust in our Police Force as part of Celebrating National Police Week from May 14-19, 2023

May 18, 2023 – Beside the very busy main street in the late afternoon in Koror, the Vice President and Minister of Justice the Honorable J. Uduch Sengebau Senior, First Lady Valerie R. Whipps, Police Chiefs, Police Lieutenants, Police Sergeants, Police Officers and Detectives representing the various Divisions of the Bureau of Public Safety as well as the President’s Executive Security Detail Team, staff of the Bureau of Public Safety, staff of the Office of the President and Office of the Vice President gathered in front of Did ra Ngmatl Gas Station to WAVE and give THUMBS UP to motorists as they drove past.

According to Police Sergeant V. Umayam, “as Police Officers we always make time to attend these Roadside Campaigns to show the public that we care for their safety and that we not only undertake law enforcement but are keen on providing preventative and educational awareness to promote the overall public safety of Palauans and visitors.”

During today’s roadside campaign, banners depicting “Happy National Police Week” were proudly displayed by Vice President and Minister of Justice J. Uduch Sengebau Senior and First Lady Valerie Whipps to support our police officers. Motorists and pedestrians took time to honk their horns, waved, smiled and nodded and some even managed to put on seat belts as they saw Posters on SEATBELT SAFETY. During these roadside campaigns, the Ministry of Justice invites partners of the Seatbelts Are For Everyone (S.A.F.E.) Committee to join in order to continue awareness on important National Law RPPL 11-9 The Seatbelt Act and to remind motorists to BUCKLE UP.

The Ministry of Justice as a whole is very grateful for the support of IR Company for allowing the use of their parking lot and Brother Edward Anastacio for his musical system.  A Big THANK YOU to all the officers and staff who showed up for the Roadside Campaign after working hours.  “Happy National Police Week” to all our men and women Police Officers!
