As part of an ongoing project to encourage active play among children and tackle obesity and non-communicable diseases (NCDs), Rotary Club of Palau handed over to Koror Elementary School (KES) on July 18, 2022 the eighth playground to be built in public elementary schools in the Republic of Palau.

Rotary Club of Palau, partnering with Civic Action Team CAT 133-30 (SEABEES), and supported by Rotary International District 2750, Palau/Micronesia, and with sponsorship from fellow clubs in Tokyo Japan, built the playground to provide a safe and fun place for children to be active and encourage more physical exercise.

The event was attended by Principal Mayleen Ngiriou, Minister of Education Dale Jenkins, Director of Education Administration Raynold Mechol, Rotary Palau President Jennifer Koskelin Gibbons, Secretary Dr Greg Dever and CAT Team OIC, Lt. Charles W. Thaxter, along with several hundred enthusiastic KES junior pupils ready to put the playground into use.
