Self-loathing is a feeling that resembles self-hate, as it constantly pushes the idea that you’re not good enough. As a consequence, you might feel like you don’t deserve love or that things happen to you for a reason. You begin to binge on your drug of choice. My drug of choice is carb.
The truth is You are created in the image of God. You are more. Oh so much more than what meets the eye.
Some examples of what may cause self-loathing may include: An underlying mental health condition, like depression or anxiety, among others. Adverse childhood experiences or traumatic life events. Wanting to fit in or comparing yourself to others (societal expectations)
Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) are potentially traumatic events that occur in childhood. ACEs can include violence, abuse, and growing up in a family with mental health or substance use problems. Toxic stress from ACEs can change brain development and affect how the body responds to stress. Pray for the brains of our children. Build their character and instill values in them. Like kindness, honesty and humility. Character is who you are. Your reputation is what people think you are.
Please forgive someone who deceived or offended you or made you feel worthless growing up 40 years ago or yesterday today. In Revelations 12:10 Satan is referred to as “the accuser of the brethren”. This title signifies Satan’s role as someone who brings false charges and condemnation against believers before God. He does this by reminding them of their sins, questioning their motives, and attempting to undermine their faith. Reminding oneself about the sins of others is dangerously demonic. Forgive as Jesus did while on the cross in agony bleeding to forgive our sins.
Learn to treat yourself the way God would with love, compassion and grace.
