JICA FFC Project in Palau

The JICA FFC (Fruit Fly Control) Project team, alongside BOE staff members and JICA experts, has been working hard across Palau to set traps for fruit flies. We’re grateful for the support of PAN (Protected Area Network) rangers and other local staff members from each state who have been collaborating with us on this important activity.

Starting in Ngchesar State on February 21st, we’ve successfully set over 100 traps as part of a baseline survey to gather essential data and information at the start of this project. From now until May 2025, we’ll be collecting fruit flies from these traps every two weeks to monitor their population.

Important Note: If you come across one of these traps, please DO NOT TOUCH them.
