Shin Kong Wu Ho-Su Memorial Hospital provided medical support during the Pacific Islands Forum in Palau while extending its services to the local community. A 13-member medical team treated more than 200 Palauan patients and donated essential medicines, diagnostic tests and other medical supplies, bringing the hospital’s total donations to Palau to about NTD 1 million, or roughly $35,000.
KOROR, Palau — Shin Kong Wu Ho-Su Memorial Hospital (Shin Kong Hospital) reaffirmed its commitment to healthcare cooperation with Palau by providing medical support to the Pacific Islands Forum (PIF) while also delivering medical care to the local Palauan community.
For the Forum, Shin Kong Hospital dispatched a team of 13 medical specialists and healthcare professionals to Palau to provide professional medical support throughout the conference and ensure that participants had access to healthcare services when needed. Beyond supporting the Forum, the medical team also provided care to local Palauans, serving more than 200 patients through outpatient consultations, surgical procedures, and medical treatments during their stay.
The medical mission covered a range of healthcare needs and reflected Shin Kong Hospital’s commitment to making its expertise and resources available not only to international events, but also to the people of Palau. Through direct clinical services and treatment, the team sought to contribute to the local healthcare system and address the medical needs of the community.
As part of its continued support for Palau, Shin Kong Hospital also donated a range of essential medical supplies, including medicines for infectious diseases, chronic conditions and emergency care, as well as rapid diagnostic tests for dengue, influenza and COVID-19. The donation also included wound-care and fracture-management supplies, disinfectants, and medication.
The initiative was further strengthened through the support of GMISS, which generously donated surgical instruments to enhance the medical resources available in Palau.
The latest donation builds on Shin Kong Hospital’s ongoing healthcare cooperation with Palau. Over the past year, the hospital has continued to provide medical assistance, clinical services, and medical supplies to support local healthcare needs. The total value of Shin Kong Hospital’s donations to Palau has now reached approximately NTD 1 million (about USD 35,000).
Shin Kong Hospital also expressed its sincere appreciation to the Taiwan Embassy in Palau for its continued support and coordination, which have helped facilitate medical cooperation and strengthen the partnership between Taiwan and Palau.
Through continued medical missions, professional exchanges, donations and community healthcare services, Shin Kong Hospital aims to further contribute to the health and well-being of the people of Palau while strengthening long-term friendship and healthcare cooperation between Taiwan and Palau.
