On the 4th day of the Belau Games 2023, Sonsorol State took the lead in the number of medals gained, including the highest number of gold medals.
In the weightlifting competition yesterday, Sonsorol dominated, gaining 16 gold medals, catapulting them past Koror State to first place in medal counts with 29 medals, 17 gold, 5 silver, and 7 bronze.
Koror is second in total medal counts with 25 total medals, 13 gold, 8 silver, and 4 bronze. Peleliu State places 3rd with 14 total medals, 5 gold, 5 silver, and 4 bronze. Koror took the lead earlier in the Open Water Games, gaining 11 medals, 5 gold, 3 silver, and 3 bronze.
It was only the 3rd day of the BG 23, and the medal tally box kept changing. Still to come, beach volleyball, baseball, basketball, track & field, and others, so stay tuned.
