Narcotics Enforcement Agency (NEA)Director Ismael Aguon said in an interview that there is still no ‘meaningful’ drug rehabilitation program available in Palau.
Aguon said that in the past, there were no ways to help a drug addict.
“I still feel that way, I still feel that they need professional help, they need counselling, they need support,” Aguon said.
Aguon reiterated that so long as the problem in illegal drug remains to be in the dark, those who engaged in it are not going to get the help they need.
Aguon also stressed the importance of putting convicted drug users into a rehabilitation program, saying that if they do not have it, once they are out of prison, they would just revert back to their old ways. (Rhealyn C. Pojas)
