Public Safety Director Aloysius Alonz warns that students with Driving Under the Influence (DUI) records that are seeking entry to United States colleges and universities will not be accepted.
“I have a number of parents come to me asking me to help their kids that have DUI records because US colleges are not accepting them but unfortunately there is nothing I can do to help them. US laws on drunk driving are very strict now,” said Director Alonz.
A reminder and warning are issued as holiday season approaches, reminding people to think twice about drinking and driving.
Bureau of Public Safety is turning out in force this holiday season to prevent tragedies and injuries from occurring as result of alcohol induced celebrations.
Director Alonz reports that other bureaus are lending their manpower to the Bureau of Public Safety patrol to increase law enforcement presence. Officers from Marine Law, NEA and others are being assigned to help increase police presence.
Alcohol related incidents is reportedly the highest cause of death and injury for young Palauan males.

Two weeks ago, a tragic vehicle accident resulted in the death of a young college girl and alcohol was present. That family too is grieving this holiday season.
