On June 20, 2017, Second Secretary Jerry Liu, on behalf of the Taiwan Embassy, made this humble donation to Atley Kazuma, Sports Development Officer for Baseball of Palau National Olympic Committee (PNOC), and wish both Belau Force International men’s and women’s teams enjoy the tournament with fellow Palauans in Seattle later this year. Mr. Kazuma expressed his sincere gratitude for the Embassy’s support.

While baseball is the national pastime/ sport in both Palau and Taiwan, softball is equally popular in both countries. Taiwan Bears, a local softball team organized by the Embassy, has been participating in many tournaments in the past year and made friendship with many Palauan teams. On June 1, 2017, Taiwan’s Show Chwan Health Care System sponsored the President’s Day Waka Waka Softball Tournament, featuring the first-in-history Home Run Derby in Palau. Taiwan Embassy will continue to promote the importance of sports activities and encourage more bilateral sports exchanges between Palau and Taiwan. [restrict]
