Taiwan President Tsai Ing-wen appointed Minister Icyang‧Parod of the Council of Indigenous Peoples (CIP) to lead the Taiwan delegation as Special Envoy to Palau and to congratulate the latter on its 25th anniversary of Independence Day.
Minister Icyang‧Parod and other Taiwanese delegations are in Palau since September 27 until October 2.
CIP pointed out that the Special Envoys include legislator Kung, Wen-Chi. During the visit to Palau, the special envoys also attended major events including the 2019 GCTF International Austronesian Languages Revitalization Forum on September 29 that was jointly-hosted by CIP, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, American Institute in Taiwan, and Japan – Taiwan Exchange Association. They also attended the Austronesian Forum – 2019 Executive Council Meeting that was held yesterday, September 30.
Accepting invitation from Tommy Remengesau, President of the Republic of Palau, Special Envoy Icyang will attend the Independence Day Cocktail Reception, Dinner Reception and Official Independence Day Ceremony, and congratulatory greetings sent by President Tsai will be delivered, embodying the profound friendship between the steadfast allies of the R.O.C. (Taiwan) and the Republic of Palau. During his visit to Palau, Minister Icyang will also meet the high-ranking officials and traditional leaders of the Republic of Palau. (PR)
