KOROR, Palau — Taiwan and Palau celebrated the 114th National Day of the Republic of China (Taiwan) on October 7 with a festive evening hosted by the Taiwanese Embassy in Palau, reflecting the lasting friendship and shared democratic values between the two nations.

The celebration brought together Taiwanese and Palauan guests for a lively dinner filled with games, prizes, and cultural camaraderie. The event reinforced the strong bond between the two Pacific partners, who continue to collaborate across multiple sectors.

Taiwan’s Ambassador to Palau, H.E. Jessica Lee, highlighted Taiwan’s perseverance and resilience in the face of authoritarian pressure to remain an independent and vibrant democracy. Facing future challenges, Taiwan advances its  “Three Chains Strategy”—which represents Taiwan’s commitment to regional security, democratic partnerships, and sustainable development.

Under the Democratic Value Chain Strategy, for example, Taiwan and Palau are deepening cooperation to strengthen democratic institutions and promote shared growth. The two allies also advance security ties within the First Island Chain and pursue joint projects in energy, healthcare, tourism, and governance through the Non-Red Supply Chain, guided by Taiwan’s technology and innovation.

“These chains form Taiwan’s integrated response — a strategy to defend freedom, secure peace, and share prosperity,” Lee said. “On this 114th National Day, we celebrate not only with the people of Taiwan but also with the people of our democratic allies around the world. Their friendship and solidarity remind us that Taiwan is not alone. Our future lies in working hand in hand with partners who share our values, our vision, and our determination.”

A member of the Taiwanese Embassy expressed joy at the turnout, saying the event offered “a special opportunity to celebrate National Day together” and that such gatherings “strengthen the bonds between our peoples and build lasting friendships.”

Palauan attendees also voiced appreciation for Taiwan’s continued support. One woman described the partnership as “a true blessing,” saying, “The support and friendship from Taiwan have made a real difference in Palau. I can’t wait to see the many blessings the future holds for our friendship.”

The celebration reflected Taiwan’s national pride and the close and enduring ties that link the island nation and Palau in shared commitment to democracy, peace, and prosperity.
