TARAWA, 07 NOVEMBER 2019 (RADIO KIRIBATI) —Kiribati’s Ministry of Health and Medical Services has confirmed the number of TB cases in the country continue to increase.
Its Communicable Diseases Specialist Dr Alfred Tonganibeia told Radio Kiribati News 350 TB cases have been detected in the country in the third quarter of this year compared 323 cases detected last year.
Dr Tongaibeia said the detection increase was due to the very active role of the National TB Programme, commonly known in the country as Dot. Some of Dots activities included awareness programmes to members of the public, mobile clinics and frequent tests at TB hotspots.
Betio was one of the hotspots that is frequently visited by Dot. (PACNEWS)
