Palau National Olympic Committee (PNOC) raised $10,000 in donations and food sales at the June 22nd Team Palau Fundraising Night Market at Ernguul Central Park for the upcoming Micro Games, which will take place in Yap State July 15-27, 2018.

For donations of $50, donors received one raffle ticket for a chance to win a return ticket see the Micro Games in Yap, clothing and many other sports prizes! Koror State Legislature Speaker Alan Marbou was announced as the lucky winner of that trip on the June 27th radio talk show with PNOC. The Team Palau Photo Booth also allowed sports fans the opportunity to take their photo with their favorite athlete.

Entertainment for the evening included live band entertainment from Kirby and Balty Sikaing. Of the dance performances, the Track & Field’s Contemporary Dance was the crowd’s favorite. The Ngerchemei Dancers also performed a lively contemporary dance, and the Ngardmau Mens Dancers performed the traditional war dance. PVA also invited artists Joseph Lee Mad (storyboard carver), Remurang Renguul (weaver) and Meked Besebes (pottery) to demonstrate their skills.

The Night Markets are a great venue for visitors to mix and mingle with the local population, as well as to purchase unique gifts for friends and family back home. If you are a small business owner, you have this opportunity to sell and display your handicrafts, clothing or food, and during the June 22nd Night Market, a total of $17,625.50 (including PNOC) in goods was sold by 29 vendors to 2,056 visitors (170 tourists & 1,886 locals).

The next Night Market will be held on Friday, July 6th, and vendors are advised to register by Thursday, July 5th at 4:00pm and Contact Api or Marvin early to reserve for space. (PR)
