With absentee ballots still to be counted today, the current government is already preparing itself for the transition to the incoming government.
During the press conference last week, President Tommy Remengesau Jr. announced that the transition work will start after the election.
This week, Minister Elbuchel Sadang of the Ministry of Finance was tasked to obtain exit reports from all the ministries.
All the ministries, directors and staff have been directed to gather all information on projects, completed, ongoing and follow ups and provide reports to the Minister of Finance.
The reports provided will be given to the incoming government. This will be the beginning of the transition work which will take place during the next 60 plus days.
When reached for comment on his transition committee, Surangel Whipps Jr., the leading vote-getter for the office of the president said that the election is not over until all the 1500 absentee ballots have been counted. “A committee is being organized to begin work once the count is complete,” stated Surangel Whipps Jr.
