Jelawat was slowly strengthening and was expected to pass North of Kayangel last night. Winds and rainfall had already toned down to 15 to 25 mph with gusts to 30 mph but 1 to 2 inches of rainfall is expected to last until today.
As of yesterday’s weather update, NEMO reported that storm surge is no longer a threat to Palau by yesterday evening.
The public was also reminded to secure any loose items around their residences and take precaution for possible flooding, landslides/mudslides and debris.
NEMO and the National Weather Service continue to monitor weather conditions and provide updates for the public. (Rhealyn C. Pojas/Reporter) [/restrict]
