The Taiwan Technical Mission (TTM) held a Workshop to promote healthy and nutritious diet at Ked, Airai State on June 23.

The Aquaculture Project (AP) and Animal Production Project (APP) experts from Taiwan also joined to promote their projects to community members. The First lady Debbie Rememgesau, Governor of Airai State Tmewang Rengulbai, Delegate Victoria Kanai, Director of Marine Resources Leon Remengesau and community members joined the Workshop.

The purpose of the workshop is to support President Rememgesau’s announcement that 2018 is the Year of Good Health. As it claims that “good health begins at home and every individual should adopt good dietary discipline and strive for an active and healthy life.”, Taiwan Ambassador Wallace Chow asked TTM, with the support of Bureau of Agriculture, Shin Kong and Show Chwan Hospitals to hold Workshop at each State to spread this idea to each community.

TTM exemplified the idea through cooking demonstrations and sharing healthy recipes that help consume more local vegetables and produce. Doctor Tom Chow from Shin Kong Hospital lectured on healthy diet, while Eva Chien from Show Chwan Hospital helped measure the blood pressure of the community members to let them know their health status.

Director Rememgesau came to the Workshop and introduced the AP to the members. Experts Hsing Tsai and Patrick Chen from AP and APP explained the projects and encouraged the community members to raise local fish, chickens and pigs.

TTM plans to hold the Workshop at Koror State in early August. All agencies and organizations interested in the Workshop are welcome to contact TTM at 4886557, 5441012, 7782318, 7796575, or call Taiwan Embassy at 4888150 for more information. (PR)
