On Friday last week, Ambassador Wallace M.G. Chow of the ROC (Taiwan) presented two checks worth 2.4 million USD of annual economic stimulus grant to Hon. Elbuchel Sadang, Minister of Finance.
These funds shall be used for four projects: “One-Stop” Shop-Phase I, Compact-State Roads Solar Lighting Project, Ngeremlengui Heavy Equipment Acquisition Project, Belau National Hospital Facility & Equipment Improvements which includes two back-up generators.
The Taiwan Government is committed to offer assistance in Palau’s national development and to help increase the standard of live of the Palauan people. Taiwan Embassy will continue to work closely with the Palauan government to ensure all projects proceed more efficiently. Other than funds for infrastructure Taiwan also provides scholarships to students. There is technical assistance provided to local agriculture and aquaculture farmers through Taiwan Technical Mission (TTM). There is medical cooperation provided as well including referral program, and efforts to combat NCDs. (PR)
