KOROR, Palau – The United States formally handed over a state-of-the-art ambulance to Palau on Wednesday, marking a significant contribution to the nation’s emergency response capabilities at its international airport.

Commander Brendan Cruz, representing the U.S. military, emphasized the importance of the ambulance in safeguarding operations at Palau’s airport. “This ambulance will play a crucial role in timely medical response and ensuring the Aircraft Rescue and Fire Fighting (ARFF) team is better equipped to perform their vital work,” he said.
President Surangel Whipps Jr. expressed gratitude for the donation, highlighting the longstanding partnership between Palau and the United States. “This demonstrates not only the friendship but also the commitment to providing safety and security to our visitors and those using the airfield,” Whipps stated.
The ambulance, tailored for emergency scenarios, will enhance the ARFF team’s readiness to respond to critical incidents at the airport. While underscoring its significance, Whipps added a light-hearted remark about the Director of Public Safety’s hope for similar resources, suggesting this donation could inspire broader investments in public safety.
The event, attended by U.S. Ambassador Joel Ehrendreich, government officials, and ARFF personnel, reflects the continued cooperation between Palau and the United States to prioritize safety and security in the region. (By: L.N. Reklai)
