SUVA, 08 NOVEMBER 2021 (FIJI TIMES) — Close to 10 kilograms of methamphetamine bound for Fiji was seized in the United States, says the U.S Attorney’s Office.
The drugs were seized as part of a multi-state methamphetamine and fentanyl distribution ring in the U.S.
A statement released by the U.S Attorney’s Office said, “on 17 August, 2021, law enforcement seized 22 pounds (9.9kg) of methamphetamine that conspirators attempted to mail to Fiji”.
“This drug organisation trafficked two of the deadliest substances we are seeing in our community – fentanyl and methamphetamine,” said U.S Attorney Nick Brown.
He said an 18-month investigation resulted in the arrest of 16 persons involved in the drug distribution ring.
