A Veteran who went missing in action near the Japanese Base at the Malakal Harbor in Palau during World War 2 had been finally put to rest after his remains were found.

Walter Mintus, an aviation radioman third class in the Navy, had been accounted on June 25 this year after his remains were found washed up from the water where he was reportedly shot down, according to a report by the wajc.com.

Mintus’ identity was confirmed through dental records, DNA, and other evidences. His body was then brought back to Cambria County, Pennsylvania, United States on November 9 followed and a funeral mass was held on the next day. He was buried with full military honors. (Rhealyn C. Pojas)
