KOROR, Palau — “Preparedness is everyone’s responsibility,” President Surangel S. Whipps Jr. said Monday, declaring September 2025 as National Preparedness Month in Palau.
The proclamation calls on residents, families, businesses, and government and private agencies to take proactive steps to prepare for both natural and man-made disasters.
“By taking measurable steps as individuals and as a nation, we strengthen our ability to respond to and recover from disasters more effectively and efficiently,” Whipps said.
The Office of the President said the initiative underscores resilience as a shared responsibility, encouraging the public to adopt preparedness measures that protect lives, safeguard the environment, ensure food security, and preserve critical infrastructure.
National Preparedness Month will include awareness campaigns and activities to promote readiness across communities. Whipps urged all citizens to take part by making plans and securing resources that can help protect families and future generations.
The proclamation was signed in August at the Office of the President in Koror.
