Empowering Prospects at the 30th Future of Asia

President Surangel Whipps Jr. will be one of speakers in the inaugural forum of the Nikkei Forum: 30th Future of Asia in Japan scheduled this week. 

 Future of Asia Forum is an international gathering where political, economic, and academic leaders from the Asia-Pacific region, according to the Forum website adding that 

This year marks the 30th anniversary of the forum.  

President Whipps will be the speaker in the Sustainable Uses of Oceans and Marine Resources Supported by International Cooperation session.

Palau is a recognized leader in ocean protection.

Palau  the first nation to ratify the Biodiversity Beyond National Jurisdiction (BBNJ) treaty in 2024 and launched a new Alliance of Countries Calling for a Deep-Sea Mining Moratorium at the 2022 UN Ocean Conference in Lisbon.  

Palau’s ‘bul”  led to   efforts like the Palau Protected Areas Network, the Palau National Marine Sanctuary, and Unlocking Blue Pacific Prosperity. (By: Bernadette Carreon)
