President Tommy Remengesau Jr. urged the youth of Palau to use the power of their collective voice to lead campaigns towards protection of the environment.

In his opening remarks at the two-, day Youth Conference that started yesterday reminded the youth of what they can achieve for a sustainable future.

“Why is the environment important to us,” Remengesau asked the youth.

He emphasized that the environment is the nest of life that can provide livelihood and food security.

The aim of the two-day conference is to bring young people into the conversation about the environment.

“You have to speak about issues that affect you,” he said.

He challenged the youth to invest time in promoting actions against marine plastic pollution.

“What can you do as young people to stop plastic pollution,” he said.

He encouraged the youth who are attending the conference to mark Youth Day to be part of the solution to help address the challenges of plastic pollution.

The Palau leader emphasized that the youth is the future of Palau and encouraged them to be the next wave of ocean leaders by finding solutions to fight marine plastic pollution.  (B. Carreon)
