Reklai Raphael Bao Ngirmang, the co-chair of the Council of Chiefs of the national government in a letter to Ngiraikelau Franco Gibbons of the Koror State House of Traditional Leaders said they’ve accepted Ibedul Alexander Merep as the friend and member of the Council of Chiefs.
The Council of Chiefs, which is made up of the high chiefs of the 16 states of Palau, serves as an advisor to the President and accept members following the traditional system of being the sole judge of their member. Ibedul and Reklai co-chair the Council of Chiefs.
Ibedul Yutaka Gibbons, Ibedul Alexander Merep’s older brother had served as the chair of the Council of Chiefs since it was first created by the Palau National Constitution. (By: L.N. Reklai)
