Two of the remaining posts of the three advertised positions for the Associate Justices of Palau Supreme Court in early February 2016 have been filled.

The two are Mr. John K. Rechucher of the Republic of Palau and Mr. Barry Michelsen of United States.

In a letter cited by Island Times, the two has been given a formal appointment on a letter dated August 18 by the President Remengeseu. As stated in accordance with the constitution and laws of the Republic of Palau, more particularly the Fourteenth Amendment and RPPL No: 9-46 the President formally informed the appointment of Mr. John K. Rechucher and Mr. Barry Michelesen to the position of Associate Justice on Appellant Division of the Palau Supreme Court.

The appointment letter added that in view of their extensive experience practicing law and impressive professional experience, the office of the President is confident for these two to carry out and fulfill the responsibilities given.

50 applicants were in total for the 3 vacancies. 41 interested applicants totaled as the highest were off- islanders. The third position was earlier filled by appointment of Mr. Oldiais Ngiraikelau to the  Trial Division of the Palau Supreme Court. [/restrict]
