4 new JICA volunteers: L-R: Mr.SENDA, Mr.ITO, Mr.NOGUCHI, Mr.KAWASAKI

On 23rd October, four new JICA Volunteers arrived in Palau. The four volunteers are, Mr. ITO Kenji assigned to Bureau of Environment for pest and disease control, Mr. KAWASAKI Norihiko assigned to Bureau of Communication for information technology, Mr. NOGUCHI Yoshio assigned to Bureau of Public Works for road maintenance, and Mr. SENDA Yuto assigned to Palau Sailing Association for youth activities (Sailing). They will begin their activities at their assigned offices from 6th of November after two weeks of after-arrival program with Palauan Language Training, various orientations, and courtesy visits to Palauan leadership. Their assignment period is 2 years.

With the dispatch of the four volunteers, the number of active JICA volunteers now stands at 29. The number is the biggest among the 10 Pacific countries which receive JICA volunteers. Since 1997, the program has been constantly contributing to the development of the society and human resources in Palau through their grassroots activities for more than 25 years in various fields such as education, health, social infrastructure, sports, agriculture, fisheries etc. The total number of dispatches of JICA volunteers to Palau is 306 now.
