Airai, Palau — September 3, 2025 — In a landmark development for Airai State, Governor N.H. Ngiratecheboet, alongside key members of the Airai State Public Land Authority (ASPLA) Board of Trustees, has signed a long-term lease agreement with the Palau Public Utilities Corporation (PPUC) to establish a new, consolidated location for PPUC services in Airai. The signing ceremony took place on September 03/2025,, with Governor Ngiratecheboet joined by ASPLA Chairman A. Kyoto, Vice Chairman R. Ngiratkakl-Butler, and board members R. Ngireblekuu, R.R. Ngirachereang, K. Kangichi, E. Ngirametuker, and C. Fritz-Bai. Representing PPUC were CEO Frank Kyota and members of the PPUC Board of Directors: Ngiratmetuchel Reagan Belechl, Richard L. Misech, Jeffery Titiml, Salvador Remoket, Charlene Mersai, Kyonori Tellames, and Leo Ben Teriong. After months of negotiation, both parties reached an agreement to lease the land for a period of 50 years, with an option to purchase or extend the lease thereafter. This strategic move aims to consolidate all PPUC services under one roof, streamlining operations and improving public access to services. Governor Ngiratecheboet emphasized the significance of the project, stating, “A huge part of this initiative is to improve Airai State. We are ready to assist the national government by bringing essential infrastructure to Airai. This development is not just to enhance and assist our community but to lay a strong foundation for future growth.” The new PPUC location is expected to serve as a vital hub for utilities and public services, marking a major milestone in Airai’s ongoing development efforts and contributing to Palau’s overall infrastructure advancement.
