The government of Palau is now considering the Palau International Airport as a site for the solar farm following the result of the feasibility study conducted by several agencies.
In a press conference held on Wednesday at the Office of the President, it was bared that the result of the feasibility study revealed that the most feasible location for a full scale solar farm is the airport.
The solar farm project that Palau is looking into needs 120 acres of land area and the airport is 180 acres.
To meet its renewable energy target of 45% and 35% energy efficiency by 2025, Palau’s partner agencies such as the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), IRENA, NREL, and ADB had worked together to produce a roadmap on how to develop Palau’s infrastructure.
