Public Safety Director Aloysius Alonz urges the public to be patient about the on-going road constructions in the main highway in Koror that cause traffic congestion, saying that flagmen holding the go-and-stop signs expressed concern about motorists who ignored the signs.

“Everybody is in a hurry but we have to be aware of the road that’s been developed. Some people get frustrated and they don’t follow the flagmen,” Alonz expressed, adding that some motorists ignore the stop sign based on the justification that they are on a rush.

But Alonz said that those who are in a hurry must go to their destinations earlier than their schedule.

Alonz said that there are no accidents reported in the road construction sites but the flagmen are worried that some people ignore their signs.

As the flagmen are civilians, the Bureau of Public Safety has to send over some officers to assist in the handling of traffic to make people follow, Alonz said.

“We have to be patient, even I spent 30 minutes on the road going to the hospital,” Alonz expressed, adding that more traffic cops have been deployed to monitor the traffic flow. (Rhealyn C. Pojas)
