“Think about the outcomes of your choices and listen to the advice from people who care about you!

“Your decisions and actions have important and lasting consequences that can impact various aspects of your life and the lives of others. We often go about our days without truly considering how our choices result in consequences. I have often shared with others the belief that they can make choices according to their desires, but they should also be mindful that every choice, whether positive or negative, comes with its own set of consequences. Therefore, make sure that you are prepared for the consequences that result from your choices.

Many of us don’t naturally think about the consequences of our choices before making them. Some of us are too proud to listen when we’re warned about the potential ramifications of our actions. For instance, we often ignore advice because of our pride, and as a result, we find ourselves in trouble that could have been avoided if we had listened and adjusted our choices accordingly. When we ignore advice out of defiance and pride, we often learn hard lessons that could have been prevented. There are times to listen and times when we follow our instincts, but usually, 9 times out of 10, if we pay close attention when we are given advice that is there to help us avoid severe consequences and heartaches if we humble ourselves we can discern whether to heed the advice or go with our instincts.

Growing up, we often think we know better. Instead of listening to our elders when we are being taught about the consequences of our choices, we are defiant, especially as teenagers. The humble mind and posture often become the wisest in life because they take their time to weigh the consequences of their choices instead of being irrational and prideful. “Pride goes before destruction, and a haughty spirit before a fall” (Proverbs 16:18). Pride is not our friend. We don’t always have to take advice that is given to us, but we should always be humble to receive it and then take our time to ponder on the advice given, pray on it, and ask the Lord for help in discerning the right course of action to take so that we can then avoid getting ourselves into unnecessary trouble and heartaches.

When making decisions, it’s important to carefully identify specific factors, thoroughly evaluate various alternatives, and assess the risks associated with each option. Unfortunately, many decisions are made hastily without taking into account the potential risks. It’s crucial to thoroughly consider the potential negative outcomes before making a decision, as these consequences can have a long-lasting impact.

It is also important to discern the person giving the advice. We must discern if the people advising us have our best interests at heart because not everybody is qualified to give us advice. If the advice is coming from someone who doesn’t truly want to see us rise in life, they are going to give us advice that can harm us.”

My advice to you is: “Think about the outcomes oqf your choices and listen to the advice from people who care about you!”
